The Facts

One in two of people in Africa survive on less than one dollar per day.

33% of the African population suffer from malnutrition

Less than 50% of Africa’s population has access to hospitals or doctors

300 million Africans dont have access to safe water

Think about this:

-If you have food in the fridge, clothing and shelter, you are richer than 75% of the world.

-If you have spare money, you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.

-If you worship freely, you are more blessed than 3 million people

-If you have never known battle, imprisonment, torture, or starvation you are ahead of 500 million people

-If you can read this, you are more blessed than two billion people worldwide who cannot read at all.

What BASIK aims to achieve:

Our aim in setting up this charity is to raise money and awareness about children in Africa who are in need of an education and in somes cases a family too.

With the money we hope to raise we aim to build a school in Kenya, but we can only do it with your support and commitment. The school would provide education to all primary aged children in its surrounding area. We also hope to eventually fund a lunchtime meal for all students.
We are currently establishing a link with the 'Gardens for Life' project at the 'Eden Project', Cornwall, to create a garden for the children to provide fruit and vegetables and educational opportunities for science topics.

All you need to do is support us in any way you can, so together we can give so many children a chance.

Thank you.

Why provide an education?

In Kenya a school uniform costs around 600 Kenyan shillings, or roughly £4.50. Such a small amount of money could give a child the chance to receive an education as without a uniform it is not possible to attend many of the schools in Kenya.

Also in a country as vast as Kenya many children are unable to make the journey to and from school as they live in very remote areas. If they can't get to school, BASIK will take the school to them!
