Why get Educated?

Education improves your ability to get a job, to support yourself and your family, and to contribute to the countries economy. It also helps you to be involved in desicion making.
 
 
Why are poorly educated people most likely to be very poor?

The main reason is that without education they will have extremely badly paid jobs, or will be unemployed or just farm to feed their family. In the 21st century, education will be even more important in determining poverty or wealth.
 
 
How does education save lives?
 
Every year at least 12 million children under the age of 5 years dies of illnesses associated with poverty such as cholera. If a child receives an education, he or she will learn how to prevent illnesses like cholera. 
 
 

How does education help people escape poverty?

If you are educated you gain new skills. These new skills can help you to raise productivity and output, and often gives you the desire to innovate. For example, a farmer in Uganda with a primary education could raise his output on the farm by 7% - Which could be the difference between life and death.
 
 
How does education give people a voice?

if you are educated, you often become more articulate in expressing your opinions. Joined together as a community, people learn how to protect their rights to schooling and their land. They can read their rights to participate in the political life of their country and demand to be heard.
 
 
A Basic education is in many ways essential. If you can read, you can follow instructions on fertilisers and equipment for farming. You can read what it says about the medicine you are taking and basic numeracy skills ensures you are not being cheated on the price and weight of your goods.
